Bebo taken over by AOL

Social networking site Bebo has finally been ingested by AOL.

After AOL’s US$850 million acquisition of the site, a combined platform is expected to reach about 80 million users worldwide.

AOL is now positioned to grow its business in advertising, publishing and people networks.

AOL will now integrate applications and tools including AIM, ICQ, chat and mail functionality into Bebo.
