US would like China to have say in world energy group

US officials have urged China to join the International Energy Agency to help keep petroleum markets stable in world crisis events.

A group of major oil consumers that includes the US and European governments has said China's participation in the IEA's collective emergency response system would make the system stronger.

The IEA has invited Beijing to take part in an exercise next month to practice responses to a possible emergency.
