Biden becomes popular front runner for Obama VP

Switzerland News.Net
Wednesday 20th August, 2008

In the US race for the president, Senator Joe Biden has emerged as the clear favorite among Democrats to be Barack Obama's running mate.

Obama's staff have themselves been speculating over Biden, who can address two of their candidate's biggest weaknesses: his lack of experience on world affairs and his reluctance to go on the attack.

Biden is a charismatic and hard-charging campaigner who was first elected to represent Delaware in 1972, when Obama was 11 years old.

Obama plans to appear with his newly selected running mate Saturday, with the pick announced via text message to supporters.

Obama also is widely thought to be considering Governors Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Tim Kaine of Virginia, and also Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana.
