NEW YORK, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar slipped in late trading on Tuesday, amid strength in the euro and the British pound.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.24 percent at 93.7341.
In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1640 U.S. dollars from 1.1610 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3799 dollars from 1.3730 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.7478 U.S. dollar from 0.7417 dollar.
The U.S. dollar bought 114.30 Japanese yen, higher than 114.26 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9226 Swiss franc from 0.9232 Swiss franc, and it was down to 1.2359 Canadian dollars from 1.2376 Canadian dollars.
