Palestinian Teen Killed by Israeli Forces near Ramallah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian teenager in the West Bank town of Sinjil on Monday, as Israeli violence continues to escalate across the occupied territory.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing Sinjil Municipality, reported that 15-year-old Fuad Yusef Abdulkarim Fuqaha was critically wounded by Israeli gunfire during clashes in the northern part of the town.

The municipality said Fuqaha later died from his injuries, and his body remains in Israeli custody.

The incident took place as Israeli troops raided a neighborhood in Sinjil, located northeast of Ramallah.

In a separate incident in Beit Furik, southeast of Nablus, another Palestinian teenager was wounded by Israeli army fire.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) stated that its medics treated a 17-year-old with gunshot injuries sustained during confrontations in the area.

The violence comes amid rising reports of demolitions in East Al-Quds.

Israeli rights group Ir Amim said on Monday that Israeli authorities demolished 33 Palestinian structures in occupied East al-Quds last month, marking the highest monthly total this year.

According to the group, the demolished buildings included 16 residential units and 17 non-residential structures.

Ir Amim said the demolitions brought the 2024 total in the city to 93 buildings, of which 53 were residential and 40 non-residential.

Figures released by the group showed that 23 demolitions occurred in January, followed by 15 in February, 14 in March, and eight in April.

Israeli authorities often cite a lack of building permits as justification, although such permits are rarely granted to Palestinians in East Al-Quds.

Tensions in the West Bank have intensified since October 7, 2023, when Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza.

Since then, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured by Israeli troops or settlers across the West Bank.

More than 700,000 Israeli settlers now reside in over 230 settlements established in the West Bank and East Al-Quds since Israel's 1967 occupation.

The international community considers these settlements illegal under international law and the Geneva Conventions.
